A morning hike in Del Valle
A new cache became active in Del Valle yesterday, so Dan suggested we hike out this morning to get it. We were first to find. It was a perfect morning for a good walk. A very nice temperature, green grass, wild flowers in bloom, and the lake is nearly full. We parked at Veteran’s park to avoid the $2 parking fee. It’s about .6 miles to the Del Valle trailhead—took us about 12 minutes.

An afternoon in Sycamore Grove
Another hike up the hill in Sycamore Grove, but this time with Karen, Dan, Janet, and Jennifer Y. We had a good time hiking together. Dan and I picked up 2 new caches, but since Jennifer hadn’t been there, she got several more that were on our route.

Lively Oak
Took a walk up the hill in Sycamore Grove to pick up this cache. Interestingly, it is just feet from a spot I had previously surveyed as a possible cache location.

Nevada City
We drove to Nevada City for an overnighter. The first thing we did after arriving was have a delightful lunch at the New Moon Cafe. Then, while Karen wandered through the stores I walked around picking up 7 caches. We ate dinner at a nice Italian restaurant in Grass Valley before driving to our motel in Marysville.
I cashed in some Choicepoints to get a free night and chose a suite since it required the same number of points as a regular room. Came with a heart shaped two person jacuzzi tub, but no shower. That was a surprise. It’s a large motel out in the sticks, probably build because of Mather AFB, but it looks like business is way off and the motel is looking a little shabby.
The next day we went to Bridgeport (a state park—site of the longest covered bridge in the world) and did a nice loop hike while picking up a couple of caches. Afterwards, we drove some dirt roads for some more caches and then ended in Nevada City again for dinner at Cirinos—very nice. Eleven caches this day.

Antzz
Dan had some time and wanted to hike up to Antzz in Pleasanton Ridge. I had failed to find this cache at least twice before. Dan found it almost immediately in a location where I’m certain I looked, but obviously not thoroughly enough.
