On the way from San Jose
After dropping Janet off at the San Jose airport, I picked up a couple of caches on the way home in Milpitas. One was an interesting, hot hike along the Coyote Creek trail and the other in a bush in a restaurant parking lot (it give me a bit of a problem).

Morro Rock
Karen and I hunted down 4 caches in Morro Bay while on a short vacation to Cayucos. One was an earthcache—Morro Rock of course.

RITE Morro Bay
While Karen was shopping at the grocery store in Morro Bay I ran around to the back to snag a lamp post hide. Nothing special.

Old Donner Pass
On the drive home, we took the old Donner Pass Road and found four caches before getting back on the freeway. One of them was on the old railroad bed (tracks are gone). I think its worth returning and exploring some of the tunnels and snow sheds in the area. Great views too.

Lilly Lake
We hiked with Mark and the girls today starting from the Alpine Springs trailhead just above Fallen Leaf Lake and heading toward Grass Lake. We didn’t make it all the way to the lake, but we did get in about 4 miles. On the way out we stopped at Lilly Lake for a cache.

Emerald Bay
Karen and I did some hiking and cache hunting this morning in the Emerald Bay area. I completed the multi-caches that I started yesterday up at Velma Lakes, and we found a few more in the area, including one all the way down at Vikingsholm.

Velma Lakes
Mark wanted to hike up to Velma Lakes from the Eagle Falls trailhead at Emerald Bay and I went with him. I noticed that there were several caches in the area, but paid no attention to the fact that they were in a Wilderness Area. After getting to the posted location, I read the description and discover that there is no cache at the location, and in fact these are multi-caches that are mislabeled as traditional ones. I took pictures and recorded information. Tomorrow I’ll look for the other parts of the multis.

Sand Harbor
We spent a good portion of the day at Sand Harbor, a lovely beach area at Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side. Just before leaving, we hunted down the two caches in the park, one a micro and the other a virtual.

Ellis Peak, Lake Tahoe
Dan, Janet, Karen and I hiked up to Ellis Peak from a trailhead off of Barker Pass Road and picked up 2 caches. On the drive back down the hill, we stopped for a quick hike into a now fairly dry meadow for another cache. There were great views from the peak. This is a hike worth doing again.
